There is little taxpayers can
legally do to alter their income or
deductions for last year. At best, they can hope their tax preparer is
familiar with all the rules for allowable deductions, exclusions,
exemptions and tax credits.
Legal tax avoidance is a continuous process of making decisions based
on what will be left after taxes. Some people call that tax planning.
Whatever we call it, taxpayers who wish to begin now to reduce their
income tax for 2004 need to know the 2004 deductions, credits,
exemptions, exclusions and tax rates.
Vernon Jacobs, a CPA and President of Offshore Press, Inc. has prepared
the following free web pages that provide information for pro-active
tax planning.
A table of 2003 and 2004 income tax rates is now available at http://www.vernonjacobs.com/fit-rates.htm
A table of 86 tax limitations, deduction amounts, exemption amounts,
exclusion amounts, tax credit limitations and tax rates for tax years
from 2002 through 2004 is available at
http://www.vernonjacobs.com/tax-data.htm
A checklist of tax return due dates for 2004 is available at
http://www.vernonjacobs.com/tax-due-date.htm
