If you have a burning queston about international tax law and are not looking for personal tax advice (see explanation below), I will attempt to answer your questions by phone for $250 per hour, with a minimum fee of $125.  If I can't answer your question, I won't charge you for the time and I will attempt to refer you to someone who might be able to answer your question.

If you subscribe to the Offshore Press Wealth Protection Library for at least a year, I will provide an hour of phone consultation at half my hourly billing rate.  For an hour of consultation, that's a savings of $125 which will pay for your subscription for a year.

However, there are conditions on this offer that are described below.

Before calling me, please read and send me a signed waiver of liability because I NEVER get all of the pertinent facts about an issue or question during a brief phone conversation.  My responses will be based on my present understanding of the tax law, and will be limited by the quality of the information you provide to me. You can send me a copy of the waiver by fax to (913) 432-7174 or as an email attachment. It would help if you also include a brief summary of the questions that you want me to answer.

If I don't have an answer to your question, I will tell you right away. If I know someone who does have the answer, I'll be happy to refer you to that person or company.

Or -- if you aren't in a hurry or are looking for free help ....

Send me your question by email and I will try to provide an answer as time permits, via the free Jacobs Report email newsletter.

What is "Personal Tax Advice?"

When you give a professional person information that is specific to you and then ask "what should I do", you are asking for personal advice from a professional.

If you want personal professional tax advice from me, based on your specific facts and situation, we will need to establish a client relationship. I will ask you to read and sign my disclosure statement and my disclaimer statement.  You will need to send me a copy of your latest personal and any business tax returns and a recent financial statement. You will also need to send me the information in my new client questionnaire -- or I will need to secure that information in person.  To define the scope of the services I am to provide for you, we will need to craft an engagement letter setting forth our respective requirements.

If you are interested in a client relationship, I encourge you to review some of the articles listed in my web page on the USA Patriot Act. That law imposes new and expanded legal duties on accountants, lawyers and other financial professionals and is the main reason why I will not provide personal tax advice on international tax matters without having secured the information necessary to satisfy the "Know Your Customer" rules imposed by that law.

Some "fine print"
Phone consultations with new subscribers are subject to my being availabile during "normal" business hours, Monday through Friday. in the Central time zone of the U.S.  It's best to send me an email indicating what kind of information you want and when. My email address is on my Contact page

If you call and I'm are on the phone, please wait a few moments because I have Call Waiting and you will be able to leave a message. I check the messages frequently and will call back at the earliest possible time. Please provide your phone number and area code and please repeat it so I can be sure to get the correct number. It would also  be helpful if you would tell me from where you are calling and the best time to call you back.

The discount available to subscribers is limited to the first thirty days after placing the subscription.  If the full hour of consultation is not used initially, the unused time should be used within the first 30 days.  I keep track of consulting time in 15 minute increments.

I will respond to questions in terms of my present understanding of the U.S. tax law as it relates to your question but I will not provide a professional opinion or specific personal advice unless you are a client.  Although I am an author and publisher of articles and other information on asset protection, I am not a lawyer and will not provide answers to questions that are seeking legal advice. I am not intimately familiar with the details of the tax systems of countries other than the U.S. and am not familiar with the details of tax treaties with other countries.

From time to time, I get questions from individuals who seem to be focused on finding ways to hide their assets and/or income from the U.S. government. It is a criminal ofense for me to provide ANY assistance to persons who are seeking to evade taxes, to launder money or to commit any other crime.  While a desire for financial privacy from non-government sources is a legitimate concern, a desire for secrecy is an indication to me that the person wants to evade the law.  I will inform such persons as to my understanding of the requirements of the law but will not assist in any manner to help that person circumvent the law. So if you are looking for that kind of help, don't waste your time or mine by calling me.
