If you are seriously interested in
international e-commerce, there are some very complex tax issues with
which you must deal.
You can designate one of your financial executives
to become an expert on the subject or you can find a consultant who is
already an expert.
It will cost you a lot of money and time
(opportunity cost) to have an onstaff person get involved in this
speciality. For example, one two day seminar in New York cost about
$4,000 in registration fees and travel costs. Conferences outside the
U.S. are a lot more expensive.
Finding a consultant who is already an expert on
the subject won't be easy either. The demand is increasing much faster
than the supply of qualified specialists. Mid-size businesses are now
venturing into international (cross-border) e-commerce.
The chances are that I already know a lot more
about this subject than any of your executives - unless you own a very
large company. And, unless you use the services of one of the "big five"
international CPA firms, it's unlikely that your local tax advisor is
as well informed as I am at this point. I've been immersed in the
subject for more than a year.

e-commerce, you will need access to someone who can give you answers to
your questions. I will provide the highest level of personal access and
