Information for Potential Authors

Free Access to our Subscribers' Web site for Qualfied Authors of Articles or Reports on Asset Protection, Estate Planning, International Topics and Advanced Income Tax Subjects.

We also pay royalties for the sale of larger reports in printed form or as e-books.

We welcome articles or reports that have been previously published so long as the author has retained the copyrights to the material.

We are interested in re-printing technical articles and reports for the benefit of non-technical readers. We are also happy to accept original material but that is not a requirement.

We seek to provide in-depth and objective analysis of controversial and/or complex financial or legal subjects (with an emphasis on international topics) for those who are not specialists in the subject. For example, an attorney with a focus on the use of a private annuity might offer an article or report that would be helpful to general practitioner lawyers, to public accountants, financial planners, investment advisors and to the general public.

We are not interested in articles or reports that are in the nature of an annotated checklist such as an article about various ways to defer capital gains taxes or ways to avoid the estate tax. Instead we seek in-depth discussions of specific topics -- such as the use of the homestead exemption in different states or a discussion of the land trust as an asset protection device or a report about the foreign earned income exclusion.

The material for a report can be of any length, but we won't usually publish a report of less than 2,000 to 3,000 words. We will usually publish larger reports (25+ single spaced printed pages) in printed form in addition to publishing them on our subscriber's web site.

We also publish some of these reports as "e-books" for distribution in digital form via email. We pay authors a 10% royalty (based on the sales price) on the sale of any reports in printed form or as e-books but not on the use of such reports in the subscriber's web site.

While the retail price of our printed reports and e-books are not based on an inflexible formula, we generally price printed reports at up to $1 per page for the first 50 pages and about $.50 per page after that. E-books will usually sell for about 40% of the retail price of a printed report. With a few exceptions, our printed reports are printed in small quantities or sometimes as orders are received.

However, we do not encourage anyone to write original material for us to publish because we don't yet have the marketing clout to be able to promise wide spread distribution. We definitely do NOT market to the book trade (retail stores and wholesalers).

Authors who contribute material for use on our subscriber's web site will have unlmited access to the material on the web site -- which is like sharing some of your research efforts with other professionals in exchange for the use of their research efforts. Most of our present authors are prominent professionals in the asset protection, international tax or related specialties. We will be looking for similar qualifications from new authors.

In addition, we will create a web page on our web site for each author with links from our home page or from any other pertinent part of our site.

We are not a good source for an unknown author to get published but we will consider manuscripts from authors who have strong professional credentials.

For information on the kind of material that is currently on our subscriber's web site, see http://www.offshorepress.com/

To contact us call (913) 362-9667 or send an email to editor at offshorepress.com but substitute the @ sign for the word and eliminate the spaces. (We do this to try to minimize the spam that we receive.)

We would like to see a detailed professional resume and a list of your published articles or reports and a link to your web site if you have one.
